OUR STORY
After over a decade of managing a consulting engineering firm, Jeanne Klein saw the opportunity to provide diversity to the electrical utility industry, and opened Tier 1 Utility Design, Inc. (Tier 1). Tier 1 was established in November 2015 and began operations in January 2016. Tier 1 is a Nationally Certified Woman Owned Business and Woman Owned Small Business with a great reputation for the quality of the work performed in supporting the Electric Utilities, Electric Co-ops, and green energy Developers. Tier 1 is experienced in Transmission and Distribution Engineering, Project Management, Concept Development, and Construction Support Services.
Our team of engineers, project managers, designers and construction support personnel are very experienced and located in our various offices through the mid-Atlantic and mid-west to support our clients. Our experience includes Substations, Gas Insulated Substations, Switchyards, Overhead and Underground Transmission and Distribution, Gas Distribution, and Renewables. Our Construction Support team is experienced in QA/QC, Safety, Construction Management, and Procurement including EPC projects.

OUR TEAM
Tier 1's core management team is made up of industry experts with vast experience in the management, design, and engineering in the power industry. Our goal is to utilize the best expertise in the industry to build strong relationships with our clients while bringing added value engineering and services to all that we do.
Over 25 years of management experience, the past 15 in executive management positions in the T&D industry. Previously serving as Vice President of Operations for Substation Engineering Company, Jeanne was responsible for the corporate operations for the organization. She has taken those experiences applying them to the development, expansion, and growth of Tier 1 Utility Design in the T&D marketplace.
